Here are the answers to some of the most popular questions you have asked us. Want an answer to a question not on this page? E-mail us at mail@nerdy-girlz.com.
1. What is Nerdy Girlz?
We are a site that promotes being both a nerd and sexy. We honestly feel that these two things do not have to be mutually exclusive. Even though being a nerd/geek has become more acceptable in recent years, this wasn’t always the case, and there are still a lot of negative stereotypes that were held over that need to be shattered. We’re also aware that many sites are disingenuous in their presentations of sexy nerds/geeks. How many times have we seen professional models placed in Superman shirts with proclamations of their nerdiness, when they actually don’t know thing one about the culture? Here at Nerdy Girlz, we find real nerds to show people that not only are we sexy and part of the culture, but there are a lot more of us out there than you would think.
2. Are the girlz really nerds/geeky?
We take pride in having genuinely nerdy models. Unlike many other sites, we do not take models and make up a persona for them. These girlz are the real deal. They bring their passions to us and we give them and outlet to show off what they love. We have nerds/geeks interested all facets of the culture including gaming, computers, English/writing, art, music, movies, math, science, horror, comics, and much more. In fact, most of the girls have a myriad of interests. We are not a one-size-fits-all group.
3. Where are you located?
Our base of operations is in Ventura County in California. As of 3/7/12, we have models and photographers located everywhere from Santa Barbara to San Diego, with a model in Arizona and another in Texas. We normally work in and around Ventura and Los Angeles, but plan on growing our nerdy family further North and East. (Maybe West if we can find some nerdy mermaids.)
4. Where are your products made?
We sell through Cafepress currently. However we will have exclusive limited run items from time to time that are printed/crafted by local small businesses. We like to help the community.
5. How do you decide what the subject of a shoot will be?
Normally we do one of several things:
First, if the a model has a shoot idea, we try to make it happen.
Second, if we have a request from a fan, we work on that.
Third, we choose one from our drawing board if there are no model or fan ideas at the time.
Fourth, ???
Fifth, profit.
6. How do I become a model for the site?
It’s really simple! Just head over to our model contact page and follow the steps there. Remember, Nerdy Girlz is all about showcasing your passions and letting you have fun doing it, so don’t be afraid to drop us a line.
7. I have a really cool site. How can I get it added to the links page?
It’s very simple! Just e-mail us at mail@nerdy-girlz.com along with a banner and some info about your site for review. If your site fits the bill, our web monkeys will get it listed on our page. Just remember, if we do link to your site, please be kind and return the favor by heading to our banner page to place one of them on your site. Otherwise, afore mentioned web monkeys might be talked into mistaking you for a banana and monkey bites are pretty nasty…
8. Can I suggest ideas for shoots? How do I suggest them?
We are here for our fans! We do listen to and read every thing you guys throw our way. You can send us an e-mail to mail@nerdy-girlz.com. We love to hear from our fans, and we want to know what you like or don’t like. Don’t be afraid, we don’t bite*. (*Disclaimer: See previous note about web monkeys.)
9. I’ve been known to take some pretty good pictures. How can I shoot for you ladies?
We are always looking for people who are passionate, talented, and love to have fun. To throw your hat in the ring, just head over to the photography contact page and follow the directions there. We’re interested in a lot of different shooting styles, and it is a great way to fill out your portfolio as well as shoot things you probably haven’t before.
10. There is a model I really like. Can I have her number or contact info?
Sorry, but we can’t give out personal contact information. However, you can (and are encouraged to) talk to the girlz directly via the forums or at the many events we are at. We love to hear from our fans, but we also like to keep our secret hideouts confidential. We’re also not insured for any plutonium injuries you might incur.
